National Advisory Committee on Pharmacy Practice

Mandate:

Established in 1999, the Committee is mandated to ensure that the Model Standards of Practice for Canadian Pharmacists maintains its relevance as Canadian pharmacy practice evolves, and to advise NAPRA on matters pertaining to pharmacy practice on a national level.

Terms of Reference:

  1. Develop recommendations for a national model scope of practice statement, congruent with the national model standards of practice

  2. Research and develop a recommended national regulatory position on pharmacist prescribing

  3. Monitor the "Model Standards of Practice for Canadian Pharmacists" and make recommendations on necessary amendments to ensure that the standards reflect the evolving practice of pharmacy and needs of the Canadian public

  4. Make recommendations on assistance which may be offered at the national level to pharmacists in implementing the standards of practice

  5. Address matters regarding pharmacy practice which may be referred from Council or the Registrars from time-to-time.
