Counterfeit Viagra Found on the Montréal Market
Health Canada is informing Canadians that Marché Euromix, a retail store in Pierrefonds (Montréal), was found to be selling a health product that was not authorized for sale by Health Canada and that closely resembled in appearance an authorized drug, Viagra. As such, Health Canada worked with the Canadian licensee of Viagra, Pfizer Canada Inc., to confirm that Marché Euromix’s product was not Viagra and can therefore be considered to be counterfeit.

Health Canada is informing Canadians about the potential dangers of buying prescription drugs online from www.globalpharmacycanada.com. The company responsible for the website recently removed Canadian access to it, but Canadians may have purchased from this website in the past.

Unauthorized Health Products Sold by Marigold Natural Pharmacy Ltd. May Pose Health Risks
Unauthorized health products manufactured and sold by Marigold Natural Pharmacy Ltd. may pose a risk to health and safety of Canadians. These products (http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/ahc-asc/media/advisories-avis/_2010/2010_126bk-eng.php) were made available to Canadians via the company’s pharmacy in Courtenay, British Columbia and via their website (http://www.marigoldnaturalpharmacy.com).

In Memoriam: Barbara (Barb) Wells
We regret to announce that Barb Wells, founding Executive Director for the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) passed away on Monday, June 7, 2010 following a courageous battle with cancer.
Ms. Wells was a pharmacy graduate of the University of Toronto. She moved to Ottawa to help establish a national organization representing Canada’s pharmacy regulatory bodies – NAPRA. Ms. Wells championed the work of NAPRA and its members for over ten years helping to strengthen and advance issues surrounding the regulation of the practice of pharmacy through her work with both national and international stakeholders. She was instrumental in the success of various initiatives led by NAPRA such as the first labour mobility agreement for Canadian pharmacists.
She applied the same dedication and passion to her work as she did to her private life. Her love of family, friends, laughter and connecting with people made Barb a person who will be remembered fondly.
